Birding
Approximately 130 different species of birds, both endemic or migratory are found here. Due to the high elevation of the farm Highveld and Bushveld birds are present. A variety of predatory birds are also found here.
Due to an abundance of spring-and rainwater filling up the valleys and dams, water birds are also encountered on this beautiful mountain side. Some of the species found are the very scarce Fish eagle, Falcons, Egyptian geese and various duck families. Even the occasional saddle-billed stork and black stork have been spotted fishing in the mudpools.
Hiking
There are four hiking routes, varying from relaxed to more strenuous (5-10 km), following mainly in the riverbeds and on the contour paths of the mountainside. Various waterfalls and pools can be found along these trails. The nature lover will find various kinds of bird and game species as well as scarce plant and tree varieties. Interesting rock formations will appeal to the archeologically sensitive hiker.
Due to the absence of pollution and the high altitude in the mountain (1500m above sea level) a breathtaking view of the evening sky can be observed and enjoyed.
